With a nod to her coastal California upbringing and signature monochrome palette, Groover’s latest collection is entitled Sea Smoke. Inspired by a US Navy image of fog lingering on the surface of the ocean, Groover has created a short film that marries the mystery of being lost in the haze with the meditative feeling evoked by the vastness of the open sea. Filmed by Fritz Stolberg, it features a track from cult drone musician and regular collaborator Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))) fame.
Groover’s pieces invite the wearer to play with the garments and style them in their own personal way. In the film, tubes of black jersey metamorphose into different styles and silhouettes by the simple act of pulling a drawstring.
